Local COP4HL Cascais pt en

What are our main objectives in Cascais?

Promoting healthy lifestyles for teenagers, in the following dimensions:
  • Physical Activity
  • Healthy Eating
  • Emotional Well-being
For it, we co-create solutions towards:
  • Adequating our message and strategies to teenagers’ models of communication and social image
  • Increasing the reach of our message for teenagers
  • Implementing sustainable strategies along time
  • Engaging stakeholders without profit retribution

Why is this a concern to our community?

  • The percentage of non-healthy lifestyle is very high in Portuguese teenagers and their context.
  • Our society organization is very classic and hierarchical without innovative social vision and difficulties for co-creation.
  • Teenagers opinions are poorly valued.
  • Teenagers lifestyle are highly influenced by family and school environment.
  • Stakeholders aren’t used to engage in projects with high level of uncertainty.
  • The concept of impact is limited to specific projects outcomes, rather than sustainable societal impact.

What are our highlight activities?

PLANTING RELATIONS
  • The intergenerational project “Planting Relations” has been developed in partnership with social centers and senior centres with the support of Cascais Ambiente. The objective is to promote relationships between ESSA students and the elderly through the planting of trees in the burnt area in the Sintra-Cascais forest park.
HEALTHY CHALLENGES
  • The health challenges game aims to raise awareness of the importance of promoting healthy behaviors and lifestyles among ESSA students. In a playful way it leads them to develop daily challenges related to physical activity, healthy eating and emotional balance.
AMBASSADORS S+
  • A programme that engages youth as ambassadors to convey the message about healthy lifestyles and to organize activities in line with their generation preferences. This has been the programme with highest impact and sustainability.
BOOK HEALTHY RECIPES
  • A book directed to youth for easy, cheap and healthy cooking, to be used by them, parents and friends. Also, aiming at local products for sustainability.
